Corkscrew hepatic artery: cirrhosis. Enlarged and tortuous hepatic arteries may be shown on color Doppler imaging in cirrhosis. This occurs because decreased portal flow results in increased arterial flow. Shrinkage of liver tissue foreshortens the artery, resulting in the corkscrew appearance.
